September 25-26: Badu Hill and the Serpentine Quarry
We'll have field trips leaving from the Gold & Gem Rendezvous in Llano (see below). Sign up at the Fredericksburg Rockhounds booth. There
will be fees of $15 for each trip, and you must be a Fredericksburg
Rockhounds member. There's a limit of 25 people per trip.
What to bring on field trips
Buckets
or canvas bags for medium-size specimens; plastic zip bags, pill
bottles, or a carpenter's nail apron for small specimens; newspaper for
wrapping fragile specimens; a rock
hammer; a small digging tool, such as an old screwdriver or hunting
knife; a small stiff brush; a spray bottle of water to wet
specimens for examination; sunscreen;
bug spray; a first-aid kit; snacks or lunch;
and plenty of drinking water.

Llano: Gold & Gem Rendezvous
Sixth Annual "Great State of Texas Gold Panning Championship;" metal
detecting; flint knapping; rockhound field trip. Free admission. Dealer
spaces available for $25.
